Mark Headline/Mark Subheads/Unmark All are on the Mark submenu of the Outline menu. Mark Headline highlights the label area of the selected headline. Mark Subheads marks all the subheadlines that are one level below the selected headline. (For headlines with the No Label style, MORE marks them with a vertical highlight where the label would be.) You can mark any headline except the Home headline. (Pressing cmd-M toggles between marking and unmarking the selected headline.) Unmark All removes marks from the selected headline and all its marked subheadlines. Unmark All does not unmark headlines at a higher level than the selected headline. Choose the Home headline before using Unmark All to remove all the marks in the outline.
The Mark command is used with the Gather command to restructure outlines. You can mark and gather headlines on topics, categories, dates, times, and so on to make cloned headlines, collect headlines together, or make working copies of headlines. Scroll through your outline, marking all headlines to be gathered, or use the Search window to find and mark headlines with a specified text pattern. Then, choose Gather on the Outline menu and select the desired Gather options from its dialog box.
